The author does recap a lot of background info but I wouldn't recommend reading without having read the others in the series first.

What I Liked:
I loved the progress in Kate and Curran's relationship. They really are a kick ass power couple. The passion, humour and love for each other bleeds through all the badassery and makes me fangirl all over the place with happiness.
We got to find out tons more about Kate's whacked out family tree which was kinda awesome and I really hope that Kate learns more about her family's magic in later books cause I think she could do with her own suit of blood armour... It'd help save poor Doolittle's (and Curran's) sanity!
I also LOVED the side-show of Andrea and Raphael. I cannot wait to get to their own book!
What I Didn't Like:
The book was action packed but it wasn't exciting.
I wasn't glued to the action, flipping pages as fast as I could speed read them desperate to find out what happens next. It was all just a bit... Forced? What really made this book was the character's relationships and personal goings on, not the actual plot of the book, and that was a bit sad.
Other Thoughts:
The die-hard romance junkie in me was giddy with joy over this book and that was what boosted it from a 'meh' to 'I liked it'.

I loved this book. Kate should have stuck with her first instinct in the prologue (face punching) it would've saved them a whole load of drama! lol
