Hello, Sunday Posters, it's been a long time!!

Hello Sunday Posters!!
Wow, it's been a long time... So long I can't even remember the last time! I bet there's a lot of new bloggers on the roll and others missing... But hopefully there's still a lot of familiar faces!

So, what's been going on over here?
Erm... Not much. My mental health is still on the merry rollercoaster it's been on for the last couple of years (I'm on a nice steady part of the ride atm).
The kid has finished his first year of high school and is on summer break atm (driving me steadily more insane with his pre-teen shenanigans). I'm still in the same job (project managing STEM stuffs), the professor is still plodding away with his job... We still have 3 cats but we lost our Bucky boy hamster months ago and I miss the little nut something fierce.
Summer is here and I've been hating it (naturally) although we've been going on some day trips and what not which has been fun.

I attended RARE London back in July and met a load of authors (both new and known) and now I'm on the countdown to RARE Florence in September!
I'm so excited for Florence... We haven't been out of the UK as a family since 2017(ish) so a break is LONG overdue! While in Italy we'll be enjoying both Florence and Pisa and even though it's only a month away it stills feels like it's too long to wait!

Despite being completely erratic at posting here on the blog over the past few months... or maybe that should be years? I've been trying to be active over on Instagram with reading updates, reviews and the like. If you have an account, and want to keep up with me, that's the place to do it!

Oh yeah, and I deleted all twitter accounts - personal and blog. Mr Musk has lost his flippin' marbles and the whole "X" thing was the final straw for me.

Throughout August I've managed to read a grand total of ZERO books, so far!
What can I say, I'm on a roll. 😂

In all seriousness, I'm being such a moody moo mood reader at the moment... I currently have 6 different books at various stages of completion. Ideally, I'd like to finish all of them by the end of August but who knows what I'll end up doing.

  1. Welcome back! It's hard to get back in our routines once we have gotten out of them, isn't it?! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and I hope you are able to finish your books this month :)

  2. I feel the same way about twitter/x. Once the icon changed to X on my phone I was like "yep, we are done with this". Welcome back!

  3. Hey good to have you around. I haven't done RARE yet, partly because I am more of an urban fantasy / scifi / mystery / thriller reader. I do enjoy romantic suspense and some other romance but I've gotten more picky about it. I rarely post to Twitter other than my post which is auto-shared. I'm not quite ready to delete my accounts yet but soon. I am on Mastodon and I just got Instagram a few weeks ago and then Threads showed up 2 days later. Too many socials! I'm currently reading Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros and it's hard to put down, and has lots of hype.

  4. Nice to see you back! I'm still on Twitter, but I don't really post much there. I just read stuff and it's crazy. The X thing is just ridiculous. I'm not sure I'll join any other social media sites, though.

  5. I am excited for your family trip. How fun that you are all going. I can't wait to hear about it. I read Line in the Sand a while back. I thought it was cute.

  7. I don't "get" the X. An article I read said he wants Twitter to become the "everything" app so wouldn't that be an infinity symbol instead of an X? lol

  8. That's funny, I'm on Twitter ( and yes I still call it Twitter) more than anywhere else except for my blog. lol

So sorry to hear about your hamster.

  9. Can relate to your current reading patterns...starting to accept that it may not be a pattern...it is what it is, as long as I enjoy what I'm reading. Hope you have a good reading week.

  10. I am sorry to hear about Bucky. I wish I could stretch out summer vacation for my daughter just a bit longer. She's at school tomorrow and making sure we all know how much she doesn't want to go. I feel for her.

I am not on Twitter much at all--never post there anymore. I did join Threads. I am not really on Instagram, although I have an account. I'm afraid I just can't seem to get on the photo bandwagon the way so many others have been able to. My blog posting has been so sporadic in recent months. It's good to see you posting again. I hope you have a great week and month of August!

  11. Your little guy is already in high school? How did that happen so fast?? Glad to hear your mental health is on the steadier portion of the up and down ride! I have bouts of lows here and there too. And it seems like for no rhyme or reason.

Yes, I go back and forth about Twitter. Mr. Musk is nuttier than a fruitcake. I've just been too lazy to take action. Hope you find a read to love, Nicci. :)

  12. I think most of us go through ups and downs with blogging, reading, and with life, right? It's all good and you'll be here when you can. Hope you make time for a book sometime this month. :) Thanks for the visit.

  16. Oh my goodness, going to RARE Florence?! That sounds like an absolute dream. Lucky lady! I’m with you on Twitter. I never used it with any regularity but when Musk took over… ugh. And now the whole X thing. Yeah, I’m out. I hope you get your reading mojo back this month! :)

  18. Two of my nieces are in the troubled teen years and hoo-boy! lol

I'm still on *that* site but rarely and to stay in touch with a couple of friends that only use that app. Just seeing that stupid new icon on my phone pisses me off lol
