Review: From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata

A 2018 Fav Read!

If someone were to ask Jasmine Santos to describe the last few years of her life with a single word, it would definitely be a four-letter one.

After seventeen years—and countless broken bones and broken promises—she knows her window to compete in figure skating is coming to a close.

But when the offer of a lifetime comes in from an arrogant idiot she’s spent the last decade dreaming about pushing in the way of a moving bus, Jasmine might have to reconsider everything.

Including Ivan Lukov.

ebook.

Nice long novel.

First person.

No.

Nope.
However, if you've read Dear Aaron you get to catch up with some favourite characters.

Nope.

Hell yes!

No.

No.

No.

I have no words to describe how much I love this book. It was magic. Pure sweet, slow burn, magic with a side of sass and a mouth that’d make a sailor blush.
Seriously, I don’t know why everyone isn’t reading this book.
I don’t know why everyone doesn’t read all of Mariana Zapata’s books immediately because they are awesome.

Her characters are fully fleshed out people who feel like they are real. Like they are friends and you’re watching their lives play out ala the Truman Show and you never want the show to end because then you’d have lost them… And you don’t even care that your obsession with them is slightly creepy because FRIENDS!

I just… I can’t describe how much I love this book! This book is everything I want in a book. It has realistic and likable characters. A romance that grows slowly. It’s friends to lovers. It’s dedication and chasing your dreams. It’s beautifully written. The characters swear a lot and I swear a lot… And it made me laugh.

It kept me up reading all night and left me with only 3hrs sleep before work the next day and I didn’t even care because it was worth it and when I finished, I had to start it again because I wanted more!

I need more…. More, more, more!
Oh! And as a nice bonus, Jasmine is the sister of Ruby from Dear Aaron so you get to catch up with Ruby and Aaron!

Please, if you haven’t read this book, read it.
If you haven’t read any other of Mariana Zapata’s books, read those too.
If I was going to be stranded on a desert island with only one author's books to keep me company forever then I have to say that these books, Mariana Zapata’s books, would be a top contender.

(Hey, look at that! I apparently did have the words! I had lots of words!)

I love how Mariana Zapata's covers never feature the shirtless male of couple in a sexy synch but always represent the book.
This cover is not a favourite but it does represent the book very well.

💬

I didn’t want someone to pat my cheek and tell me everything was going to be okay. I wanted this man who would never take my shit, who would never let me quit, and I had a feeling would never quit on me. Not ever. Not if I screamed, not if I kicked, not if I told him to go eat a thousand mounds of shit. This was my partner. This was more than my partner. He was my other half.

💬

I got you something too. It’s not the souls of everyone that has ever pissed you off, but….”

💬

“I love you so much, if I can’t skate with you, I don’t want to skate with anyone else.”

💬

“You’re not ever going to be anyone else’s partner. Not while I’m alive, Meatball. I will drag your stubborn, beautiful ass kicking and screaming back to me because nobody else will ever be good enough for you.”

  1. This sounds wonderful and I love that its standalone. Lauren Blakely does this too, where her books are standalone, but the characters in her books know each other, so you get updates.

  2. Neat that you got the connection with the other story. Oh my, you tempt me to drop everything and get to it with one of her books when you couldn't stop reading it. I have read Dear Adam and know what you mean about the impact of her writing. Great review!
