OMG. 

What the hell. 

This book… This book was a bit of a hot mess and that freakin' sucks because it could have been so good!

What was my issue you may wonder? 

Well, I’ll tell you...

Editing. 

Or, more accurately, the complete lack of it despite what you may read on the author’s twitter or blog. 

It was awful. 

A typo on every other page. 

Misspelled words, incorrect word usage… It was a distracting cluster fuck and really not easy to ignore. 

Things are especially bad when you have to read a sentence multiple times to work out what it meant, for at first glance it's just a jumble of words that form a barely coherent sentence. 

How the hell a proof-reader or editor could miss even a few of the errors, let alone all of them, is beyond me. 

I’d happily go back through the manuscript and highlight every single one just so other poor readers don’t have to suffer through this version of the manuscript like I did… It’s supposed to be a finished product! 

*bangs head on table*

Then there are the multiple potential relationships… 

The potential love quadrangle from the previous book got messier and more annoying despite there now being only one way for things to go.

OMG, I mentioned in my review for book one that I really hoped the series would differentiate itself from the other series it seems naughtily similar to and it didn’t. 

In fact, I think it developed even more similarities for example, you can substitute evil father who thinks he does good things for evil mother who thinks she does good things.

Length

It was stupidly short. 

This could either be a short novel or a long novella - I’m not sure which - but either way it was ridiculous considering how rushed and incomplete the book felt. 

A few thousand words more to elaborate rather than bouncing around like a pinball would have made all the difference.

Did I like anything? 

Actually, yes. 

I kinda liked the characters: Aria, Declan, James, Inarus. 

They could each do with being fleshed out a little more but I like them. I like the overarching plot - humans wanting to eradicate all non-humans by inciting a war - and I like all the possibilities it presents. 

It’s just frustrating and disappointing about how it’s being executed! The lack of originality, and the lack of due care in finishing off the product!

Argh!!!

That said, I am a first class idiot for I’ll probably read the next book in the series as I’m curious, a glutton for punishment and I get easily attached to fictional characters and things... 

I like the colours and I like how the female on the cover matches the description of the protagonist.
