What author have you read the most in the past two years?
This is a really simple question.
I didn't even have to think that hard about it.Two years ago, I was in the middle of a reading crisis and by crisis I mean I was barely reading a book a month because I'd lost my mojo and nothing was pulling me out of my funk, pretty much because I was in a dark place and until I managed to dig myself out of the hole I was drowning in, nothing was going to be fun.
As part of the digging myself out of my misery pit, I deleted my old blog, cut off social media and simplified my life.
Simplifying my life worked a treat and before long I was reading regularly again and I discovered I missed my blog but it was too late to reinstate it - and the associated social media - so Sunny Buzzy Books was born.
Within weeks of starting Sunny Buzzy Books, I decided to read the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I was in an Urban Fantasy mood, I had about 6 of them already, between the book shelf and the kindle, so I picked them up and started reading... And I didn't stop until I'd inhaled all nine plus multiple novellas set in the Kate Daniels world.
But I didn't stop there.
Over the past year, I have read everything available by Ilona Andrews with the exception of the two Kingsman novels and two of The Edge series.
That means I have read approximately 25 novels and novellas by this writing duo since May last year.
Two more Ilona Andrews novels - and one more novella - are on the TBR for this year: all pre-ordered.
I just LOVE their world building, their attention to detail and the strong characters they develop. The romance junkie in me also loves how they build the relationships between characters in their books. It always feels so genuine... Raw, real, believable and sexy.
So, yeah.
The simple answer to this would have just been to say Ilona Andrews, but that would've been boring.
😝
What about you? Who have you read the most of in the past two years?
Ilona Andrews. I can definitely see why Nicci ;)
ReplyDeleteFor me? I don't do these nowadays actually. Yes I read books from my favorite authors but not so often like I did before. I'm in a discovery state right now so I've been shifting from one author to the next. But when I started reading English books, I only read something from Mary Higgins Clark for I guess a year or two ;)

I like reading new authors but nothing beats a familiar voice. :)
DeleteI'm kind of the opposite. After my slump I stopped binging authors. I skip around more but I think I needed that at the time. Now that I'm (mostly) over my slump I want to go back to old favorites. Including catching up on Andrews books. Which I have but still need to read.

Sometimes you just need a complete change!
DeleteWow, that’s a lot of Ilona Andrews books. Good thing she’s so prolific and you have plenty to choose from. :) I’m too lazy to determine the one author that I’ve read the most from the past two years (LOL) but at a glance I can see that it’s clearly a toss-up between Jennifer L. Armentrout, Anne Bishop, and Krista & Becca Ritchie. All favorites, of course. :)

I do enjoy Jennifer L. Armentrout. There was a time when she'd have been my most read in a small time frame too.
DeleteI don't think I've read more of one author over the past 2 years but if I had to guess it would be Christine Feehan. I love her books.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy Christine Feehan! I remember binge reading the first 11 or so Carpathian books well over 10 years ago now, then washing them down with the series about the Drake Sisters. :)
DeleteI hated it when it went to one Carpathian book a year.
This meme sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI hear a lot of good things about Ilona Andrews. A couple of friends are huge friends of them and their books have been on my TBR forever.
Hmm I think my most read author is Kristen Ashley. For a while I binged on her books.
I like Kristen Ashley! It took forever though to get used to her writing style.
DeleteWow. That's a heck of a backlist. I'm always looking for more Urban fantasy, so I'm going to take this as a suggestion. Happy reading!

Ilona Andrews is awesome! I hope you enjoy.
DeleteI completely relate, in the sense that I went through a reading slump as well. I wasn't in such a good place a year back, and so I found my way back to my love of reading to use it as a way to help myself sort through certain issues. I found myself enthralled by Michael Grant's 'Gone' series, which is pretty lengthy, so I think he must've been my most read author of the past 2 years.
ReplyDeleteI haven't actually familiarised myself with the work of Ilona Andrews, but, from your descriptions, the books sound great, so I'll have to look into them for myself! Really good answer, I love how you've gone onto explain why you prefer them and why they mean so much to you. It's lovely to be able to have a particular author/group of authors that you know you enjoy.
Feel free to check out my own answer if you wish!
