Review: Meet Me Under The Mistletoe by Carla Burgess

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the little flower shop…

Florist Rachel Jones might spend every day making beautiful bridal bouquets at her little flower shop, but her own love life is wilting as quickly as a bunch of dead roses.

Luckily, the arrival of handsome detective Anthony Bascombe, the new tenant upstairs is the perfect distraction! Although there’s a catch, Anthony isn’t looking for love – he’s looking for her ex-fiancé, Patrick…

But as the snow begins to fall and her little shop fills with mistletoe ready for Christmas, will Rachel manage to melt Anthony’s heart?

You see characters from the author's other books, but no knowledge of the books or the events in them is required for this one. It's just a nice 'check in' if you have read them.

More like a happy for now.
It's a nice ending to the story but I'd have wanted more certainty on the fate of Anthony and Rachel.
However, the author told me their story continues in the next book, so that's better than a 'five years later' epilogue!

This is a fantastically festive story. Sweet, funny and touching.
It captures the feeling of Christmas perfectly!
Rachel is a lovable character with a penchant for vintage clothes and a very big heart.
Anthony is a swoony detective, protective and sweet, but closed off to the idea of relationships or permanent attachments.
Who can imagine how that works out...
With a crazy supporting cast, cameos of characters from previous books and festive shenanigans galore, this was a fun-filled, heart-warming, Christmas read that I highly recommend!

My only complaint was that the ending wasn't quite... Concrete enough for me. Anthony may have a special soft-spot for Rachel in his heart, but is it enough? I like to know the characters make it, or be left with the feeling that they'll make it long term.
I didn't have that with this one.
It was a 'happy for now' ending.
I liked this couple far too much to be content with that.
However!
The author told me they will have another book so hopefully, I'll get the happy ever after later on.

Deliciously festive, sweet and romantic. It's perfect!

  1. I love the cover of this book!
I read a book a few weeks ago where there was no ending at all for the main couple. There was an epilogue and the author told us what happened to every other character, but when it came to that character the author actually said, "who knows what happened to them" and then several possibilities were listed but we weren't told which one actually happened. It was really annoying.

  2. I like concrete happy ever after endings too. But hopefully the next book will give that to you.

  3. ah endings like that don't totally work for me either. It does sound so cute, though. :)
